MySpace Marketing In The Most Unusual Places

This fall we worked on a campaign to market downloadable college textbooks. The product had a logical fit with the MySpace crowd. We advertised on MySpace, we made a MySpace page, we reached out to MySpace influencers to help us spread the word. One site I'm focusing on now, at first blush, seems very non-MySpace-esque. AccessMyLibrary is a "library advocacy site" which essentially means it allows library patrons to access library content online. We view librarians as one of the greatest potential advocates for the site. And librarians don't gather on MySpace, right? I'm glad to say, no, not right at all. Not only did a search for "librarian" bring up pages and pages of results, I found that dozens of libraries also have MySpace pages. My guess is that a library with a MySpace page has a predisposition to technology and digital content, making that library likely to be interested in AccessMyLibrary.
