Squidoo as a Marketing Tool
I first heard about Squidoo.com a year ago, but just recently created my first lens. If you haven't see Squidoo, I recommend a visit. Consumers (and maybe more often, marketers) create "lens"--short how-to type articles with links and other resources. With a PageRank of 4 and an Alexa rank under 2000, Squidoo as a site carries some weight. The built in Digg and Del.icio.us make it easy for readers to tag the content. Squidoo also does some optimization of lenses, they call it MAXing a lens, but don't provide a lot of details. There's also a nice dashboard to show traffic to your lens. Of the 6000 or so lenses, what are the most viewed? Well sexy Halloween costumes are way up there, tattoos are three of the top 13, and "freebie" tips are high too. Not quite your market you say? Other top lenses are about handbags, laptop bags and Google Earth.
